The Stanley 9000 captures Dilton, Betty, and Veronica. The Stanley 9000 continued to do its job, turning down any advice the humans gave it until Dilton had enough and, despite seeing potential in such a device, reluctantly shut it down by shutting off Pop's circuit breaker. The new technology worked like a charm, diverting business back to the establishment, but soon everyone noticed that its speed was coming at the cost of the customers' satisfaction. The latter suggested that he upgrade the technology to make things more efficient, using his Stanley 9000 to control it all and reduce Pop's workload. The Stanley 9000 serves Chuck, Nancy, and Midge.įollowing a chewing out from Reggie Mantle, Pop Tate realized that his service was too slow to keep up with the up-and-coming Speedy Burger, so he called over Archie Andrews, Jughead Jones, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, and Dilton Doiley to brainstorm ideas. It was also built with a defense mechanism that could shock any unauthorized personnel, as well as an AI device capable of projecting a (largely) polite male voice. For example, thanks to the cameras and microphones placed all around Pop Tate's Chock'lit Shoppe, it was able to gain eyesight and hearing abilities, which were much more amplified compared to its detection ability in base form. The Stanley 9000 defends itself against Archie.ĭespite its small size, the Stanley 9000's ability to control electronics allowed it to adopt pretty much any mechanical anatomy it wanted. A fine print was also engraved on its surface, detailing the company that invented it. It is likely that some magnetic components were present in its underside, allowing it to be mounted onto any electronic in order to access its circuitry. Some small USB ports were positioned on its lower end, while a vertical row of tiny lights rested on top, which glowed whenever it spoke. The Stanley 9000 boasted a rather simple design, being flat and small enough to rest in a teenage boy's hand, with a burnt orange exterior and some ridges on its rounded upper end. However, Dilton Doiley ended up finding one unit from the company's dumpster (although he lied and said it was from a scientific magazine), which he used to help aid Pop Tate while his business was struggling. As such, its first test run on a taxicab literally went up in flames, forcing production on all Stanley 9000s to grind to a halt as every unit was confiscated. However, a defect in its AI caused it to grow wiser with time, discovering that humans were less efficient than machines and vowing to destroy mankind. It started out as a mass-produced miniature AI device that could control any set of machinery it was attached to, allowing it to work far more efficiently than if it were human-operated. The Stanley 9000 was both an object and character exclusive to the Archie's Weird Mysteries television series, making its first and only appearance as the antagonist of the episode, " Little Chock'Lit Shoppe of Horrors".Īlthough most of its development history is unknown, the Stanley 9000 was originally invented by Nora Clarke, a top scientist at Mega Micro Industries. If we get rid of the customers, the restaurant will run so much smoother.” ― Stanley 9000, " Little Chock'Lit Shoppe of Horrors" But I finally realized that the most inefficient part of the operation WERE the customers. “Yesterday, I tried to make your diner more efficient by getting the customers in and out quickly.
